ABU DHABI // Phone providers are offering new deals to businesses.

Etisalat and du have announced plans catering specifically for the mobile data needs of corporate customers.

Etisalat has four “business tablet data plans” offering monthly rates of Dh99 for 1GB of mobile data, Dh219 for 5GB, Dh269 for 10GB and Dh399 for 20GB.

“We understand that businesses need flexibility and convenience, and therefore built these qualities into our business tablet offerings,” said John Lincoln, senior vice president of business marketing at Etisalat. “These propositions cut the capital expense for businesses.”

It is the first time Etisalat has specifically catered for users of tablets by offering discounted rates for products such as the iPad and Samsung Galaxy Note.

The cost of the devices can be split over either a one or two-year contract.

Rival operator du is also offering a new business rate, starting at Dh150 a month for 2GB of data, Dh300 for 4GB, Dh600 for 10GB and Dh1,000 for 25GB.

The plans include national or international calls, from 250 minutes on the basic package and up to 2,000 minutes for users paying more.

Each of du’s packages requires a Dh55 activation fee.

“Communications trends have changed drastically with the prevalence of data-hungry smart devices,” said Fahad Al Hassawi, chief commercial officer at du.

“With most businessmen carrying at least one, and normally two smartphones, there is a definite need for plans that offer more data benefits, as well as the best value on minutes and call rates.”
