ABU DHABI // Etihad Airways has donated the proceeds of a charity marathon it held last month to the Abu Dhabi Centre for Autism.
The donation will be used to fund a vocational arts and crafts workshop.
Etihad Airways also donated iPads to the centre to be used as teaching aids for a group of children with high-functioning autism.
"Every child deserves the best education possible and we are pleased to play a vital role in the development and training of autistic children, and ultimately in their integration into society," said Khaled Al Mehairbi, the airline's senior vice president of Government and Aero Political Affairs and chairman of the Sports and Social Committee.
The Abu Dhabi Autism Centre was established in 2002 as part of the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs and aims to provide psychiatric and educational services to children with autism.
