The UAE should expect some sandstorms and rainfall on Monday after a spell of dry weather.

Sandstorms broke out and rain fell near Abu Dhabi on Sunday night, but the capital should remain mainly sunny on Monday, as should Dubai, the National Centre of Meteorology said.

Temperatures in Dubai are expected to range between 28°C and 37°C, while Abu Dhabi will range from 26°C to 38°C.

The UAE is likely to be cloudy at times, with some rain over scattered areas, the weather bureau says.

Humidity is expected to rise to 75 per cent in some coastal areas of the country and will drop to as low as 35 per cent in the mountain regions, the bureau says.

Wind speed is expected to reach up to 45 kilometres per hour in coastal areas.

The sea will be moderate, becoming rough at times, with cloud activity in the Arabian Gulf, while the Sea of Oman will be rough, becoming moderate by the evening.

On Monday morning, there was an electrical storm and heavy rain across much of the Emirates.

The National Centre of Meteorogoly reported rainfall in Abu Dhabi city centre, Al Ain and Sweihan, with heavier spells of rain in Dubai and Sharjah.
