Winds reaching speeds of up to 50kph will sweep across the country on Saturday, prompting a weather warning from forecasters.

The National Centre of Meteorology said the gusts would be particularly strong in the mountains and along the coast.

Forecasters also warned seafarers that waves would reach heights of up to 3 metres.

"Winds with a speed of 48 kph will continue affecting the sea, with wave heights of up to 3 metres until 8pm," a statement from the bureau said.

Conditions will otherwise be partly cloudy and cool with temperatures no higher than 25°C expected across the UAE.

Those living in the more mountainous regions of the county can expected temperatures to dip as low as 8°C.

Humidity overnight could lead to fog in some areas in the morning - motorists are advised to factor extra time into their commute and drive with extra care.

Strong winds are expected throughout the week, beginning to slow by Wednesday and conditions at sea also starting to calm by Tuesday.
