Rain fell across many areas of the country on Wednesday morning.

Abu Dhabi was covered by dark clouds at about 8am with the National Center of Meteorology radar showing rainfall in the area.

The forecasters confirmed rain had fallen over Dibba, Shahama, Abu Dhabi island during the past few hours.

Weather officials also warned people planning to go for outdoor activities in the northern emirates to “be on the lookout” for sudden weather hazards.

Horizontal visibility is expected to drop to less than 2,000 metres at times, due to connective cloud formation associated with rainfall and fresh winds.

The temperature in Abu Dhabi reached around 25 degrees Celsius at around 7:30 am.

Unsettled weather has affected the UAE for the past couple of weeks with the onset of winter.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai both saw spectacular lightning last week when a storm prompted police to issue an emergency alert.
