UAE weather: Thunder, lightning and rain in Ras al Khaimah

Residents of RAK experience rain as weather forecasters warn of choppy seas amid towering clouds.

Residents in Ras al Khaimah experienced rain tonight, with some taking to Twitter to express their joy.

@ItsRasBerry tweeted: “I was standing in the poring rain, dancing like a crazy girl”

Nafisa Alee joined in and wrote: “OmG. 1st rain in RAK city!!! Alhamdulillah.”

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology has warned that rough seas and rain could be in store, especially in coastal areas, islands and in north eastern areas.

Seafarers were told to avoid offshore activities in the Gulf of Oman and Arabian seas as severe weather is predicted.

Towering clouds and winds of between 15-35kph in general, but reaching up to 50 kph at times, are expected.

Temperatures for Abu Dhabi will range between 20-31 degrees Celsius while Dubai will be between 22 and 30.
