Drivers were warned to slow down during the rush hour today as thick fog rolled into Dubai making the morning commute more perilous.

Dubai Civil Defence took to twitter to warn drivers to take care in the poor conditions, tweeting: “Dear drivers be aware of heavy fog, watch your speed in keep enough distance. Wishing you safe trip.”

This message was echoed on social media by the RTA which also warned: “Dear drivers, make sure to use your full attention while driving as there’s a heavy fog that may cause a poor visibility.

“Fog makes the road moist and wet, which causes vehicle sliding when suddenly braking. So watch out your speed.

“When fog is accumulated, use dimmed and be guided by ground road signs, right-hand side limit line and do not be guided by road middle line.”

Once again the advice to drivers: slow down, switch on fog lights, use low beams and stay away from hazard lights and high beams in the fog.

Clare Elise in Dubai tweeted: “Very foggy this morning so take ya time when out and about.. Drive safe.”

While Houssam Chahine asked: “From our balcony in Dubai, can’t see anything from the fog.. is it safe to drive the way to Abu Dhabi?”
