Fog blanketed parts of the country overnight and into Tuesday morning, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.

From 12.30am to around 5am on Tuesday, fog and mist settled over Al Dhafra area in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi airports, Al Bateen airport, the Al Shawamekh area and some of the capital’s outskirts, as well as the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road, Ras Al Khaimah airport, Al Ain, Sweihan and Al Minhad.

Around midnight, visibility dropped to less than 200 metres at times, prompting warning to motorists.

Fair to partly cloudy weather is expected for Tuesday with some haze at times and a slight drop in temperatures, reaching lows of 4°C in the mountains and 5°C inland.

Moderate to fresh winds are expected to cause some blowing dust and sand, especially over exposed areas, and strong winds are expected over the Arabian Gulf.

Humidity is likely to increase at night, reaching highs of 95 per cent internally, and in the early morning over some internal areas, with the fog and mist expected to dissipate by 9.30am.

The sea will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough in the Sea of Oman.
