Thick fog covered many parts of the Emirates on Sunday morning and motorists were warned to remain extra cautious while on the road.

In an image shared on its official Instagram page, Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to keep a safe distance between vehicles due to low visibility caused by the dense fog.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) also posted updates on its Twitter account, which said the poor weather conditions had caused delays on the Dubai-Al Ain Road (E66) and Emirates Road (E611).

According to the forecaster, temperatures on Sunday will see highs of 43C across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with lows of 29C.

“[The weather across the UAE will be] fair to partly hazy at times,” it said.

Humidity remained high during the morning hours on Sunday, especially along the coastal areas, and winds were expected to freshen gradually by the afternoon.
