UAE weather: Dubai and Abu Dhabi set for thunderstorms and rain
Temperatures will rise up to 33C
The UAE could be set for another weather spectacle on Sunday with thunder and lightning across parts of the country.
The Emirates are currently experiencing the season of change between winter and summer which brings unsettled conditions.
And forecasters said there would be scattered rainfall accompanied by storms at times.
Light rain fell over Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Sharjah before dawn, while a few rumbles of thunder were heard over Abu Dhabi at about 9am amid overcast skies. Spits of rain were also felt in areas of Dubai such as The Springs and Jumeirah Park.
The NCMS radar showed a mass of cloud running up the coast from Ruwais in the west to Umm Al Quwain with pockets of moderate rain in the Arabian Gulf.
The Arabian Gulf will be rough to very rough with 10ft waves as the wind speed reaches up to 60kph.
Temperatures will reach up to 33°C, with the highest recorded temperature on Saturday coming in Gheweifat where it reached 38.8°.
In the early hours of Monday the thunder storms are expected to return.
The UAE was hit by spectacular storms last weekend.
Fork lightning was seen streaking across the Dubai sky over and over again, while roads were flooded within minutes.
There was also the rare sight of hail.
