DUBAI // A report commissioned by the municipality on pollution across the emirate has confirmed a good quality of air in Dubai.

The Dubai Environmental Report 2011 tested air, water and surveyed land pollution sources. The marine environment, including ports, were also tested.

No major cases of pollution were registered in the emirate. And, despite the heavy dust storms throughout the year, air quality was rated 'good'.

But, while the air was found to be clean, the report noted a steady increase in waste from hazardous and non-hazardous industrial, medical, and general sources.

Hussein Lootah, the director general of Dubai Municipality, said the civic body would prioritise the issue as part of its expansion and development projects.
