Emirati women married to non-Emiratis are now eligible for state housing as part of the Sheikh Zayed Housing programme.
Amended regulations recently passed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, now further specify eligibility requirements for state-subsidised housing, The National's Arabic-language sister paper, Al Ittihad, reported yesterday.
"The new regulations have dedicated a special article listing the housing assistance eligibility requirements necessary for an Emirati woman married to a non-Emirati," the paper said.
In addition to Emirati women married to non-Emirati men, local women are eligible for housing assistance if they are: widowed or divorced mothers; orphaned of both parents and without a provider; or have reached the age of 30 without marriage.
