An Emirati teacher died in a road crash in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday.

Fatima Awish, 32, who worked at Al Bashayer Kindergarten in the emirate, was killed when the Porsche car she was driving veered off the road and struck a barrier dividing the highway.

A 29-year-old Emirati woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, required treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police and the ambulance service were called out to the accident scene on Shaam Road at about 7.45am.

Ms Awish was buried at Al Wueib Cemetery, in Wadi Shaam, after Al Asr prayers were held.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
