The Emirati who will will join Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing on its gruelling round-the-world voyage later this year has been named as Adil Khalid.
The 22-year-old Olympian, represented the UAE in the 2008 Beijing Olympics in sailing, beat finalists Abdul Aziz Abdulla, 27, and Butti Al Muhairi, 26, for the place. The three had been narrowed down from 120 applicants.
The race stars in Alicante in Spain in October and will make 10 stops including Abu Dhabi in January next year.
