DUBAI // An Emirati man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of a boy, aged 3, in the United Kingdom while driving on the wrong side of the road.

Ahmed Aldubaili, 31, admitted at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday that he killed Henry Blacklock on October 23 last year. He also admitted to driving while uninsured.

The court heard Aldubaili was driving a friend's Jaguar on the wrong side of the road when he collided with a Renault Clio carrying the Blacklock family.

Henry was killed and his father, Martin Blacklock, suffered a damaged jaw, loss of hearing, three broken bones and short-term memory loss.

Aldubaili was granted bail and is scheduled to return to the court for sentencing on January 3.

Mr Blacklock welcomed the news.

"We are glad he has made his plea but we wish he could have been sentenced before Christmas," he told a local newspaper, the Cambridge News, outside court.

"I still think about my son every day and that will never go away."
