Emirates Hospital Jumeirah will now have a new stem cell and regenerative medical centre, the state news agency Wam has announced.

The hospital is the first in the country to get approval from Dubai Health Authority to offer specialty regenerative services.

Stem cell therapy can treat or prevent disease and restore cellular function by enabling the body to replace and regenerate damaged cells. Its most common use is in bone marrow transplants for cancer patients.

The hospital has partnered with ReGen Medical Management Dubai. The website for ReGen Medical's New York branch emphasises the stem cell technology use in cosmetic dermatology.
