Eid Al Fitr begins on Sunday

Saturday, August 18, marks the final day of Ramadan and the Eid Al Fitr holiday will last until Tuesday.

Last night the UAE's moon sighting committee announced that Saturday, August 18, would be the final day of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr would begin on Sunday.

The committee announced that it had not witnessed the new moon which marks the start of the lunar month of Shawwal. Ministries and government institutions will remain closed until Wednesday, August 22, the fourth day of Shawwal, according to a circular issued last week.
