Egyptians show solidarity with UAE, reject El Eryan's comments as 'unacceptable abuse'
ABU DHABI // A group of Egyptians gathered outside the UAE embassy in Cairo on Monday to protest Essam El Erian's remarks against the UAE education system.
Brandishing placards, about a dozen protesters denounced the vice-chairman of the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, according to a report in Al Ittihad, The National's sister Arabic newspaper.
The group expressed their admiration for the UAE and dismissed El Erian's comments as "irresponsible and unacceptable abuse".
They said they rejected the remarks as an attempt to drive a wedge between the UAE and Egypt.
Some people taking part in the protest said lawsuits had been filed by a number of lawyers against Mr El Erian, accusing him of attempting to sour relations between the UAE and Egypt.
