UAE school is one of five in the world to gain IB accreditation
DUBAI // A UAE school has become one of only five in the world to have all its programmes accredited by the International Baccalaureate (IB) organisation.
Greenfield Community School received accreditation for its middle school programme this week.
The accrediting body, based in Switzerland, has given 3,619 schools in 145 countries an IB World School status. The new affiliation for Greenfield makes it one of just five schools that has all four programmes - primary years, middle years, IB diploma and IB Career-related Certificate - authorised by IB.
"To become one of only five schools in the world out of many thousands that offer the IB curriculum is truly outstanding," said Stephen Lee, chairman of the school's advisory board.
IB is one of the fastest growing curricula in the world and one that allows families to relocate globally without disrupting their children's education, the school said.
"Greenfield students develop the attributes that are at the core of the IB learner profile," said Angela Hollington, the school's principal.
"Greenfield learners strive to be enquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective."
