Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid welcomed a new champion of the Arab Reading Challenge on Tuesday.
The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai presented winner Maryam Amjoun, nine, with her award, which included a cash prize of Dh500,000.
This year, the competition opened for the first time to Arab pupils who live outside of the the area and there was a 25 per cent uptake in participation.
