Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the Foreign Minister, on Wednesday stressed how reading could build nations.
He was speaking at Mubarak bin Mohammed School as part of Abu Dhabi Reads, an Abu Dhabi Education Council initiative that encourages children up to grade 5 to develop their reading and writing skills.
Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, Adec’s director general, was also part of the school tour.
After meeting students, Sheikh Abdullah read them The Clean Dirham, an allegory about the importance of using money to make others happy, the state news agency Wam reported.
In a quiz he delivered, Sheikh Abdullah also told the pupils about foreign currencies.
He emphasised the importance of learning from experience and gaining knowledge through reading in order to raise the awareness of society and enable it to contribute towards the country’s future.
