Pupils in private schools and nurseries across Sharjah will receive free bottled water, the emirate's Ruler said.
Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi said the government-run Zulal bottled water company would provide the service free of charge, the state news agency Wam reported.
Sharjah has 116 schools attended by about 200,000 pupils. It also has 135 nurseries with about 6,500 children.
Dr Rashid Al Leem, chairman of the the utility company Sewa, which owns Zulal, said the move was "to provide a decent life to all segments of the society" and support children in their learning environment.
