AL AIN // Four new kindergartens will welcome 1,200 Emirati boys and girls when the school year begins on September 15. The schools, with 300 students each, are located in the Towaya, Shoaiba, Sarooj and Goaa districts of Al Ain. Dr Mugheer Khamis al Kaili, the director general of Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec), toured two of them yesterday. "On December 9 of last year, Adec implemented this project for our children, the students," Dr al Kaili said. "I came to check on the readiness of the schools and as you can see, in 10 months construction has been completed."

Each school offers 15 classrooms, along with a fully equipped games room, a climate-controlled courtyard and a creative games laboratory. They also have a staffed medical clinic, a central sound system, closed-circuit security cameras, a multipurpose theatre, facilities for children with special needs and spacious parking for staff, teachers and visitors. Each school also has high-speed wireless internet.

While Adec has closed 20 schools, another 11, including the four in Al Ain, have either opened or are set to open across Abu Dhabi. Dr al Kaili said Adec also has prepared three schools in the Western Region city of Mirfa to open within weeks, with plans for another two in Abu Rahma and Sila. @Email:ealghalib@thenational.ae
