Schools across Dubai will close for an entire week as the country marks Eid Al Fitr.

The emirate’s education regulator said there would be no school from Sunday June 2 to Thursday June 6.

Pupils will return on Sunday June 9, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority said in a tweet – accompanied by a meme featuring the film cartoon characters Minions shrieking with excitement.

That means pupils will have one day more off than parents who work in the private sector, who are entitled to four.

The public sector will also have the whole week off.
