The Dubai campus of India's Amity University has announced plans to expand and relocate to a new site over the next 18 months.

Since 2011 the institution has been based in Dubai International Academic City. The new facility on Academic City Road will be able to cater for 5,000 students.

The campus promises state-of-the-art classrooms, labs and a new multimedia-capable library.

Amity chancellor Atul Chauhan said that the development is part of its ongoing commitment to the UAE and stated that "research will play a more significant role in our new campus as we endeavour to create a centre of excellence for the research community."
