A man threatened to kill a woman on Facebook Messenger during a group chat, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Monday.

The Filipina, 39, told the court she was friends with the defendant for a while but they fell out in June.

The woman, who is a driver, did not disclose the nature of the fight, only that he then began posting private photographs of her on group chat.

“During the same month, but I can’t remember the exact date now, we were in a group chat when he posted some private pictures of me, which insulted me and violated my privacy,” she said.

Afterwards he said he would kill her and each of the members of the group chat “one-by-one”, she said.

The man allegedly wrote that he'd had sex with her and said he could have sex with any members of the group, even against their will.

The driver reported the incident to police and the accused was arrested on September 22.

The Pakistani defendant, 32, did not attend court to face charges of issuing death threats, issuing insults over the internet and assaulting the privacy of the woman by posting private pictures of her on Facebook.

The chat history — which prosecutors said contained all the threats, insults, and pictures he shared of the woman — was restored from the defendant's smart phone and attached to the case file.

The next hearing is scheduled for November 27.
