The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai is introducing its Nol cards to intercity buses.
Public buses travelling between Dubai and Sharjah have already begun accepting the cards, with other routes set to follow this probationary period.
Using the smart cards passengers are able to pay fares electronically by swiping the card on reader machines on public buses, the Dubai Metro, water taxis and some parking areas.
Inter-city public buses carry out 900 trips daily on 12 routes that connect Dubai with the other emirates.
