Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said that the government was encouraging innovation in philanthropy as he led a Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday.
Congratulating the people of the UAE on the occasion of Ramadan, the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai said that the holy month offered a great opportunity for "interaction and tolerance", and for enhancing the culture of philanthropy.
"Guided by the Islamic values of peace, tolerance and giving, Ramadan is the right time for us to launch global humanitarian initiatives," the state news agency Wam quoted him as saying.
"We have directed government and private sectors to come up with ideas that support philanthropic work and enhance the value of tolerance, as we mark 2019 as the Year of Tolerance."
During the meeting, the Cabinet approved a federal law on the regulation of co-operative societies to develop the sector.
It approved an executive regulation on the safe processing of petrochemicals, which also highlighted the need to raise awareness among companies in the field.

In international relations, the Cabinet adopted and ratified agreements including a trade and visa pact between the UAE and Columbia, agreements with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kiribati on air transport services, and with Serbia on legal and judicial matters.
