Seventy-six people were killed in road accidents in the first half of this year, Dubai Police said.

Despite the large number of road safety campaigns, road fatalities have decreased slightly from the first half of the year, with 77 deaths in the same period last year.
“Seventy-six deaths occurred as a result of 1,250 traffic accidents. Another 884 people were injured, including 390 drivers and 293 passengers,” said Brig Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police.
Tailgating caused 23 deaths and 268 injuries in 317 accidents, failing to leave a safe distance caused 15 deaths and 179 injuries in 235 accidents, and misjudgement by drivers caused 17 deaths and 140 injuries in 132 road crashes, according to statistics revealed by Dubai Traffic Police on Saturday.
Entering the road without ensuring that it is clear resulted in two deaths and 60 injuries in 76 incidents.
