DUBAI // A man died last night at the fun fair section of the Global Village in a reported accident on one of the rides.

The Global Village confirmed in statement that a male visitor to the park was killed and said that Dubai Police have launched a full investigation into the incident.

Authorities said in a statement that a team of safety inspectors from Dubai Municipality were at the scene of the accident and are carrying out their investigation.

Witnesses at Global Village today said they noticed a "pipe like structure" fall from the Ferris wheel in the games area.

"I was standing next to another ride with my two children and suddenly saw someone pointing at the wheel," said AM, an Emirati who was there at around 10pm.
