Dubai police have special squad to track Israeli agents

Team was established after al Mabhouh murder 'to ensure that UAE soil will not be used again by the agency to settle its scores'.

DUBAI // Dubai Police are deploying a team of specialists whose sole purpose is to detect and track Israeli intelligence agents, a direct response to the assassination of Mahmoud al Mabhouh. Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the Dubai police chief, said the squad was established "as a consequence of the murder to ensure that its soil will not be used again by the agency to settle its scores".

"Following the murder, we realised that Mossad is causing trouble for our security, as they think that they have the right to pursue their enemies in other countries, even when they are on transit in our country. But we cannot allow this to be repeated, and we need to protect our residents and visitors, and therefore to set up a team to detect Mossad agents is essential," Lt Gen Tamim said. "We are still in the beginning of our work and this kind of work need a lot of time and patience," he added, but declined to give any further details on the work of the team or its funding due to the nature of the operation, but said that training for the officers was under way.

Dubai Police are also training passport control officers at the airport to better identify potential Mossad agents and other potential infiltrators using fake or forged documents to prevent them from entering the emirate.
