Two female gangs have been arrested, one for stealing from homes during Friday prayers; the other for watching clients inside banks and providing their partners with information about possible victims, Dubai Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said.

Lt Col Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, deputy head of CID for Management and Control Affairs, said the first gang would follow people from the mosques where they did their Friday prayers back to their homes.

The following week, while their victims were at Friday prayer, they would go back to the houses and ransack them.

The second gang spied on people withdrawing cash, at banks, before notifying other members who would then rob them.

Lt Col Al Jallaf added that another gang, using "innovative" methods to disable shop alarms, had been arrested, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.
