DUBAI // A young man was caught in an undercover operation after police saw seductive pictures of him on the internet soliciting customers for prostitution, a court has heard.
Police said they saw photos of Emirati K A, 22, in a series of inappropriate poses, many of which were captioned: “You get this in return for money.”
“We saw that he was posting similar pictures on Instagram and another site called KIK. He was cross-dressing and standing in seductive poses,” Lt A A, 26, told the Dubai Criminal Court.
He said several other pictures of the man were found on other websites, promoting his prostitution services.
An undercover officer was assigned to contact him and arrange for a night with him in return for Dh1,500.
“K A asked for Dh2,000 at first but then settled for Dh1,500, and the two agreed to meet on April 20 at a five-star hotel in Dubai,” said the lieutenant.
Records show that the young man arrived at the room wearing make-up, tight-fitting trousers and a top, carrying a woman’s bag and wearing feminine perfume and accessories. He also had his hair in a feminine style, the officer said.
When he was inside the hotel room he asked for his money and the undercover policeman handed it to him.
“He put it on the table then took off his clothes, and that was when the policeman gave the signal for arrest,” the officer testified.
Several images of K A in sexually explicit poses were found on his phones and computer. Records of chats in which he was negotiating prices for sex were also presented by police.
Prosecutors said he confessed to being a prostitute and a cross-dresser, and to posting inappropriate pictures of himself online, but he was not in court to enter a plea.
A verdict is due on August 31.
