Police are warning drivers against leaving their car engines on while they run small errands.
Officers say doing so makes the vehicles easy targets for thieves and can be hazardous for small children.
They pointed to accidents including the death of a child who closed the window on his neck after being left alone, and another in which a child playing with a lighter set fire to the car.
Drivers caught leaving their engines on while out of the car face fines of Dh300.
Dubai Police fined 2,314 motorists for the offence during the first eight months of this year.
