Most people head to the marina to enjoy a bite to eat by the waterside, or enjoy a short pleasure cruise around The Palm.

Soon, Dubai Marina will be attracting a whole new breed of clientele as the world’s longest urban zipline opens up for thrill seekers.

Those brave enough to take on the kilometre-long ride will fly 80km an hour through the air from a height of 170 metres onto towards Dubai Marina Mall.

The stunt launched by XDubai follows a similar zipline that carried participants onto the roof of Dubai Mall in 2015.

The marina ‘Xline’ is twice as long, and twice as hair-raising.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, was one of the first to take on the zipline and posted an Instagram story of his experience.

“We wouldn’t be XDubai if we didn’t push the limits of what is possible,” said Mohammed Javad, general manager of XDubai that is operating the attraction.

“Following the success of the first XLine, we wanted to step it up more than a notch and importantly, give both residents and visitors to Dubai the opportunity to have a true-to-form XDubai experience.

“The result is like nothing else – two ziplines - the world’s longest in an urban setting, in one of the world’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.”

With two ziplines running concurrently, XLine can accommodate 16 people per hour with individuals able to take the leap - or zip - with a friend, family member or colleague.

Building upon the success of the original XLine, the new version will also be open to both visitors and residents but will be available for a limited time only. Bookings will be taken soon.

“Having witnessed remarkable success when the original XLine was launched at The Dubai Mall, Emaar Malls is thrilled to be partnering with XDubai to host a second attraction at Dubai Marina,” said Nasser Rafi, Emaar Malls CEO.

“XLine will delight visitors and is a great example of Dubai hosting innovative leisure attractions.”

The mall is also host to the XDubai’s new XShop, a new retail outlet that along acting as a check-in point for the XLine experience.

Once booking is live, they can be made online through their website or at the XShop in Dubai Marina Mall.
