DUBAI // A customer who was convicted of molesting a pharmacist while pretending to buy medicine won his appeal and was acquitted.
The pharmacist told Dubai Criminal Court that the customer hugged her against her will.
On August 13, the Indian woman was at work when a customer, also Indian, went into the pharmacy, allegedly pulled her to him and hugged her.
The pharmacist, 24, told the court she did not know the man.
The defendant, 36, told police he had pulled her by the waist and hugged her as a joke. In court, he denied a charge of sexual assault. However, he was convicted and given a suspended term of three months in jail and deportation.
He challenged the conviction and won an acquittal at Dubai Court of Appeal.
