Volunteers from across the UAE visited the National Charity School in Al Falaj, Sharjah Saturday to refurbish the science lab and deliver new desks and chairs.
The 100 volunteers were recruited as part of the first edition of Volunteer Emirates 2018 organized by Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
The volunteers also drew educational murals across the school campus to create beautiful and engaging surroundings.
“It’s been immensely satisfying to see the UAE community come together once again to help us launch Volunteer Emirates in 2018,” said Abdulla Ahmed Alshehhi, Dubai Cares COO. “The appetite of the community for committing their time and energy to make a lasting difference will enable the National Charity School to deliver a higher quality of education to the young minds it nurtures. Starting here in Sharjah, I am confident that we will see Volunteer Emirates gain more strength throughout 2018.”
About 1,100 pupils are enrolled in the non-profit private school.
“We are very grateful for Dubai Cares’ generous support to our school,” said Dr. Faris Al Jabour, principal. “The work that is being carried out by the volunteers today will certainly have a positive impact on the students and teachers alike.”
