DUBAI // 54 labourers and a driver were seriously injured and taken to hospital when their bus crashed into an outdoor advertising billboard on the outskirts of Ras al Khaimah. Police officials say the heavy morning fog reduced visibility significantly, and the bus was travelling above the speed limit when the vehicle veered off the road and into the billboard.
"The accident took place when the driver was driving on the sub-road and attempted to take the main road but crashed into the billboard sign pole because of heavy fog and high speed limit," said Col Hassan al Jeeda, the chief of the traffic section within the RAK police. He said that several workers remain in intensive care units within RAK hospitals. The bus flipped over several times, landing on its side and burst into flames.
"Firefighter and emergency medical workers responded to the scene immediately," said Col al Jeeda. shafez@thenational.ae
