Donate unwanted goods at UAE malls

Goods including old mobile phones and unwanted clothes can be donated.

People visiting shopping malls during Ramadan have been asked to give unwanted everyday items to charity.

Clothing, books, glasses and mobile phones, among other things, can be donated to the Red Crescent's UAE branch.

Shoppers can drop off goods at collection boxes in malls including Ajman City Centre, Deira City Centre, Fujairah City Centre, Mall of the Emirates, Mirdif City Centre and Sharjah City Centre.

The annual initiative, organised by Majid Al Futtaim Properties, has been running for six years under the slogan "Make a Difference this Ramadan".

The charity collections are part of the company's region-wide Ramadan campaign, which also includes drop-off boxes at Alexandria City Centre and Maadi City Centre malls in Egypt, Qurum City Centre and Muscat City Centre in Oman and Bahrain City Centre.

Fuad Al Najjar, the senior asset director of shopping malls asset management for Majid Al Futtaim Properties, said the company expects an increase in donations this year.

"The annual initiative has been a significant advocate of the Red Crescent's humanitarian efforts across the UAE," Mr Al Najjar said. "This year, we are optimistic that donations for this worthwhile cause will be greater than ever."

People who donate will receive discount vouchers, which can be used in various entertainment venues including Ski Dubai and Magic Planet.
