The cost of projects being supervised this year by the Ministry of Public Works stands at Dh877million.
The money was allocated as part of the Dh69 billion federal investment programme for this year's public budget, state news agency Wam said.
Some of the projects from the ministry (MoPW) will focus on providing better education, health and security, Dr Abdullah Al Nuaimi, the minister, said.
Other projects include federal road and infrastructure projects that are taking place in the Eastern Region, said Wam. Dr Al Nuaimi revealed the plans during a conference held yesterday.
Plans are in place to add a lane in each direction on the Diba-Khor Fakkan Road and to maintain and upgrade the Massafi-Fujairah road.
Next month, a contract for the Dh170m Al Ittihad-Al Tawyeen road will be awarded.
Among the projects highlighted was the building of a new hospital in Dubai.
"The Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital in Dubai, a Dh500m health facility with a capacity of 272 beds, is being designed and built on the world's best standards of green architecture for psychiatric health facilities, the first to be adopted in the region," said Dr Al Nuaimi.
Police stations will also be built in Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah. The latter two emirates will also see the building of civil defence centres.
A Dh160m building that will act as the grand headquarters for Abu Dhabi Police is also under way, said Wam.
