DUBAI // Key stretches of the Dh1.9 billion Al Khail Road widening project in Dubai will open in the first half of this year.
The size of the project meant the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) had to divide it into six phases, with work currently under way on four.
Phase one, which cost Dh575 million, is 90 per cent complete, said Mattar Al Tayer, the authority's chairman and executive director. A new bridge will replace the junction on Emirates Road, and the number of lanes will increase from four to six.
The bypass slopes for traffic from Al Khail Road to Dubai and from Abu Dhabi to Al Khail Road will open in June.
