Decrease in deaths on Sharjah roads
The decrease in numbers is due to increased traffic patrols and awareness campaigns, police said
Sixty people died on the roads in Sharjah in the first six months of the year, a 15 per cent decrease from the same period last year.
Captain Mohammed Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department said awareness campaigns from the traffic department led to the decline in numbers from sixty-seven deaths to sixty.
“Traffic patrols were increased on roads and we also increased the number of awareness programmes targeting all layers of the community,” said Capt Al Naqbi.
He said police focused their attentions on the roads where the greatest number of accidents take place, including Maliha Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
