ABU DHABI // Banks and other companies vulnerable to computer attacks can shore up their defence by registering with a team of cybercrime experts. The UAE Computer Emergency Response Team was set up in July by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to help organisations secure their networks and systems. The team will research and analyse threats and advise how to manage the risks. Fatma Bazargan, the team manager, said the groups it helped would be divided into two tiers, based on a risk assessment and their importance to the country.
"For example, due to its economic importance, Etisalat will be categorised as a first-class client," she said. The team has received several queries from organisations, mostly regarding compromised online accounts and websites, malicious software contamination and e-mail abuse. * The National
