ABU DHABI // The success of camels owned by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, President of the UAE, will be celebrated at a cultural festival in the capital tomorrow night. The presidential camels had several big wins during the 2008-09 season, including the annual Purebred Arabian Camel Race in Qatar. One camel named Nahab won the race in Doha on April 30, earning the prize of a sword of pure gold presented by the emir of Qatar.

To celebrate this win and three others in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the Al Nahyan family will host the first Presidential Camel Festival at the National Theatre from 8pm. The public event will feature a short film on the history of camels in the UAE and performances from folk dancers, singers and poets. Ziad Hijab bin Naheet, the winner of the TV programme, The Million's Poet, has penned a special poem for the occasion.
