Crown Prince has meeting with Bush at Camp David

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, meets George W Bush at the US president's retreat at Camp David outside Washington.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, met George W Bush at the US president's retreat at Camp David outside Washington. The meeting on Sunday focused primarily on issues of regional security and the worsening global financial crisis, according to the state news agency, WAM. It was the second meeting between Sheikh Mohammed and Mr Bush in five months. Mr Bush briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the G20 summit the president had hosted in Washington the day before. The summit was aimed at exploring methods of addressing the repercussions of the crisis and rebuilding confidence in the global financial system.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the importance of the summit, particularly given the growing calls throughout the world for the international community to take collective action to assuage the crisis. They also reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East, including the peace process between the Palestinians and the Israelis and the need to establish regional stability. Also present at the meeting were Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the Foreign Minister; the US secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice; Khaldoon al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; and Yousef al Otaiba, the UAE Ambassador to the US.
