DUBAI // A woman was offered a Dh2,000 monthly salary to come to the UAE as a maid, but was forced into prostitution when she arrived, the Dubai Criminal Court heard today.
SA, 20, from Bangladesh, contacted her compatriot PA, a 30-year-old tailor, through a relative to offer her the job as a maid. But when PA arrived in Dubai on March 20 on a visit visa she was locked up in an apartment in Hor Al Anz and told she would have to prostitute herself.
Two days later she was left alone at the flat and managed to escape through a window but lost her balance and fell. She injured her leg in the fall and sought the help of passers-by. Police were notified and the woman was referred to Rashid Hospital for treatment.
SA denied a charge of human trafficking. The case was adjourned to July 15 to assign a lawyer for SA.
