ABU DHABI // A woman accused of endangering the life of a security guard when she ignored his instructions not to use the State Security Court car park was cleared by the Appeals Court today.

MM was on her way with relatives to see her father, who was undergoing pre-trial procedures as one of 94 Emiratis accused of sedition, when the security guard told her not to enter the inside parking area.

She ignored his advice and drove in anyway - which prosecutors claimed put the guard at risk of being run over.

She confessed to driving into the court's parking area, but said she avoided the security guard and had not tried to hit him.

The acquittal by the Appeals Court overturns a verdict of the Misdemeanours Court to sentence her to three months in prison.
