ABU DHABI // A woman burnt her nine-year-old son with an iron, permanently damaging his arm and leaving him with 15 per cent burns, the Criminal Court heard today.
The child revealed the burn scar on his right arm to his father during a meeting at a family guidance centre months later. The child's parents - mother AA, 29, from Yemen, and father NH, 31, an Emirati - are divorced.
Prosecutors said the mother did not intend to burn her child.
She denied a charge of unintentional physical assault and the case was adjourned to June 19.
