SHARJAH // Four men accused of raping and killing an Ethiopian housemaid in the desert will hear their verdicts on Sunday. One of the defendants had been sentenced to death for similar crimes 12 years ago but was freed after his victim's guardian forgave him. The Sharjah Islamic Court yesterday postponed a decision in the case of the four Emiratis, identified as AAM, 34; JAJ, 30; HSR, 32 and AHA, 29.
The court heard that in August last year, the four men kidnapped the maid in Khor Fakkan, taped her mouth closed, forced her into their four-wheel-drive Land Cruiser and drove her into the desert. They allegedly raped her in Khor Fakkan before putting her back in the Land Cruiser and driving her to Al Dhaid mountains where they allegedly raped her again. The court heard that they then drove the vehicle over her head, killing her, and tried to cover the body with rocks before driving away.
