16-year-old girl reported missing by her family had run off to a hotel to have sex with her boyfriend, hears court.
'Unhappy' girl, 16, had sex with man
DUBAI // A girl, 16, reported missing by her family, had run off to a hotel with her boyfriend, a court heard this week.
She sneaked out of her home in Al Warqa at 1am on October 14 last year after the rest of her family had gone to bed.
She took a taxi with MK, 24, to a hotel in Al Qusais and had sex with him, prosecutors told the Juveniles' Court.
The girl admitted consensual sex outside of marriage, telling the court she had an unhappy life and had been sexually active ever since she was raped by her uncle when she was 12.
She had told her mother her uncle raped her but her mother did not believe her, she said.
The girl said she had been living at her grandparents' villa for the past few years after her parents divorced and her mother remarried.
"My father is in jail on a drug-related charge and my mother left me to remarry, so I lived with my grandparents," the girl said.
She met her boyfriend on Twitter about four months before running away with him.
He told investigators sex was with girl's consent.
"She told me she had been in many relations before me and that her first time was with one of her family members," he said.
The girl was sentenced to be placed under judicial supervision. The boyfriend was referred to the Misdemeanours Court on a charge of consensual sex.
